Introduction

There are a number of different jewelry pieces around the world today and in more ways than one having good fashion jewelry has really become a status symbol. Jewelry and having lots of it was always really a status symbol but since today’s mass production society has given everyone the ability to go out and purchase jewelry, specialty fashion jewelry is really where the status symbol aspects of it are. Earrings

Perhaps the most popular jewelry item today in terms of stylistic or otherwise fashionable jewelry is the earring. Earrings are used by women and men alike in order to either accentuate their appearance or alternatively make a statement of some kind. When women wear earrings, they are doing so in order to enhance their appearance most of the time. Likewise when men do it, most of the time they are attempting to make a fashion statement. Because of their nature, it is rather difficult for earrings to really do a lot towards making a status symbol statement. Most of the time they are small and unless you get large and overbearing ones that dangle from the ear, most of the time they will go unnoticed by the vast majority of people. Rings and Necklaces

Aside from earrings, the other two large sale items in terms of jewelry are rings and necklaces. Both of these have been popular items for a very long time but really it is only recently that fashionable rings and necklaces have really been created that can make the fashion jewelry statement.

Take rings for example. Most rings are very boring when you look at them and this is because even wedding bands tend to be more about presence and less about eye-catching appearance. The fashion rings will contain gems or alternatively be designed in a very eye-catching manner (or both) and also will be made from high cost materials such as gold.

Necklaces have the same thing about them. A good necklace used to be one that was functional and therefore was maybe one that was on a simple string and had a gem at the bottom. Fashion necklaces and ones that are intended to be eye-catching instead utilize the visuals in order to make people look at the necklace. This includes very overbearing designs because they seem to work a lot better for necklaces than they do for earrings. The material doesn’t matter that much with necklaces because most of the time the design will make up for inferior materials used.
