The ultimate objective of any information system is that the information obtained or disseminated should be actually utilized by the receivers. It must be further propagated for use by all concerned. This is a crucial matter, which requires specific approaches to retrieve the necessary data. In fact, proper monitoring and evaluation of the data and information should be regularly undertaken to obtain better feedback. Also the extent to which the application of information is taking place and such steps that are necessary must be taken to mitigate the problems that are encountered in the fuller use of the available information.
In Ernakulam Real Estate developments were hampered in times past due to the lack of information regarding the various land transactions taking place in different locations and also due to the total absence of a proper documentation methodology in place. The main problem with the proliferation of information related to a particular topic is authenticity. Getting to authentic information is a little bit difficult. Even though information in the survey, village and registration offices are piled up in a disorderly manner, with strenuous efforts you can actually get the necessary information. But even this information has some limitations. You will have to do some guesswork with the information pertaining to certain land areas. For example, a land transaction involving just one cent of land in M.G.Road in Cochin may be valued and stated as one crore in the registration records, whereas the actual value involved may be several times above this amount.
