hello..i think every girl will consider promise ring as engagement ring.because every day has its significant meaning with specific things.that is why rings are generally consider as engagement ring.and apart from this if your mean to give ring to any girl is not committed than u can gift her any things.like bands,novels,teddy etc.there are lots of the things are available in market.

When one person give some promise to second one then he gives a promise ring. The nature of promise are different for person to person. When two persons are engaged to each other they also give promise ring to each other. The promise ring is usually wear on left hand.
