It is not difficult to establish the connection between punk music and punk jewelry. Punk music started in the 1970’s probably in the UK stemming from the music played by the Sex Pistols created by such characters as Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten (not their real names?) and to a lesser degree by Roger Daltry and The Who.
Punk music spread readily to both the USA and Australia where the style of music developed into the heavy metal sound of aggressive, loud, hard edged music totally unlike the melodic sounds of the Beatles a decade earlier.
To the uninitiated the lyrics of the music were weird and portrayed violence and aggression which was equally expressed in the kinds of clothing worn, consisting of torn jeans usually at the knee and the wearing of body chain adornments.
