The purity of gold is measured in carats, the higher the carat value the higher the purity of the gold, commonly for jewelry purposes gold is either 18K, 14K or the less pure 9K.

- Silver. Again, although silver is great to work with it is much too soft to be used in its pure state to make jewelry. Silver jewelry is often referred to as 925 silver, which only means that another metal, usually copper, has been added to the silver to make it stronger and more suitable for jewelry purposes. The expression simply means that the ratio of the mix of the two metals is 92.5% silver to 7.5% copper.

Platinum. Platinum is considerably stronger and harder than both gold and silver and will certainly be heavier than any piece of jewelry made from either of those precious metals. Platinum is seldom used in its pure state but commonly as 95% platinum, any deviance from this will be ‘stamped’ on the item. For example the number 80 would signify that the item comprised 80% platinum and 20% other metals.

Here we go again. A few moments of Facebook down time created confusion, havoc and snarl. Thus, the terms Facebook log in, Facebook down, Facebook not working, Facebook down today and other Facebook down time concerns landed up at the Google trends.

The thing was, the reason for Facebook down time was to roll out some new features and prototype. The problem, it appears that the roll out was made too soon. As Facebook twitted “Some internal prototypes were exposed to people and resulted in us disabling the site briefly. It is now back to normal.”

Apparently, Facebook down time is the second in a week. The most popular social network was inaccessible to millions for a brief moment. Well, a brief moment maybe for me but not for most who are hooked on Facebook and depended their (social) life on it. The outages it seemed were unrelated.

Blake Edwards is dead. 2

Blake Edwards was born in July 26, 1922. He was married and divorced once before he married his equally famous wife Julie Andrews. The two made several projects together, including the musical adaptation of victor/ Victoria.

On December 15, 2010, Blake Edwards died of complications of pneumonia. He died at the Saint John’s Health Center in California with his wife and children by his side. When he was alive, Blake Edwards describe his struggle with the chronic fatigue syndrome.

The loss of Hollywood’s one of the most talented people is heartbreaking not only to the family but as much with the fans. You will be greatly missed, Blake Edwards. Thanks to your movies you will leave on until generations to come.

Blake Edwards is dead 1

Blake Edwards died. He was 88 year old. We remember Blake Edwards as the award winning director of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s would be Blake Edwards’ diamond on his career. He gave Audrey Hepburn the star status. Breakfast at Tiffany’s was an Oscar-nominated screenplay. In the movie, Audrey Hepburn also introduced the film’s mark, Moon River.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s starred Audrey Hepburn, George Peppard, Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam, and Mickey Rooney. Among the stars of the famous movie, Blake Edwards was one of the last who were alive. Another one would be Mickey Rooney.

Blake Edwards was a natural funny man. This was best manifested after creating The Pink Panther in 1964. If you haven’t yet, treat yourself to watching this classic. People consider Blake Edwards as Hollywood’s most successful comedy specialist. He appeared in about 30 movies before he sit on the director’s chair. His first significant success as a director was a movie that starred Carey Grant, Operation Petticoat. He was given an honorary award by the Academy in 2004 for his work in the movies.

The Florida Shooting Incident 1

It was just another day at the school board, or so they thought. Until Clay Duke came into the picture. This more than half-crazed man glazed with a gun threatened the Florida school board shooting with a semi-automatic hand gun.

Some claims Clay Duke was an ex-con. I just say that he is a looney. He claims that his wife got fired by the board and that he was there to make things even. And so he sprayed paint on the wall with the V sign replicating the sign from the movie Vendetta.

School Board Superintendent Bill Husfelt told during an interview that he thought he was already going to meet his Maker. But what happened was a show of heroism from the board. Husfelt tried to convince Clay Duke that he would help the latter and the laid-off wife. And wow, I wonder what Husfelt felt when Clay Duke directly pointed that gun at him.

Winner of the Biggest Loser 2

Patrick House of Biggest Loser season 10 lost a total of 10.25% of his body weight. In all, he placed 4th in percentage lost but his was the biggest among the finalist as such became the Biggest Loser 2010.

So, maybe I don’t really buy the lines of Biggest Loser contestants that they are not doing it for the money but for a change. And the show probably doing it all for the money. Whatever it is that motivates them boils down to one thing. Money. Or two – ratings, which also equals to money.

The Biggest Loser is a production of NBC and has franchises all over the world. Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels star in the Biggest Loser 2010 as narrated by JD Roth.
